frequently asked questions{Q} What is this boutique all about?
Goods for Goodness' Sake is an online boutique built on the belief that sharing just a little good fortune can go a long way. When you shop on GFGS, you support the charity of your choice with every purchase. As if that wasn't enough, you also support a group of very talented small business owners. {Q} What is your mission statement? Goods for Goodness' Sake donates 100% of profits to customer-selected charities through the sale of products created by small businesses. {Q} 100%?!? Really? What is the catch? Really 100% of profits are donated. No catch. Lara and Cathe wanted to do something to support small charities and small businesses that so desperately need help in this stressful economic time. We have committed that 100% of the profit goes to charity. We keep our expenses very low (see our Gratitude page for companies who have donated services or reduced their rates), we don't pay ourselves, and don't have any staff members beyond the 2 of us. {Q} Is GFGS classified as a nonprofit? During our research for GFGS, we found that forming a nonprofit organization can be costly and time consuming. As we wanted to open shop as soon as possible, we decided to form Goods for Goodness' Sake as an LLC. We are committed to operating as a nonprofit in keeping our operating expenses as low as possible (see our Gratitude page for businesses who have donated or discounted their services). We are not paying ourselves at this time. {Q} Can i submit a request for a new charity to be considered? Please! The charities we support are chosen by our customers and we love to hear about new charities that need our help. We support small charities, typically under $500k in annual revenue. Send the information to submitcharity {at} goodsforgoodnesssake.com. {Q} How do you choose your designers? The designers we have partnered with are women that we admire and who share our interest sharing the goodness. {Q} Can I submit a request for a new designer? Absolutely! We are always on the lookout for talented designers. Send suggestions to submitdesigner {at} goodsforgoodnesssake.com and we'll take a look. {Q} Is my purchase tax deductible as a charity donation? Per IRS regulations, if you purchase a product for fair market value, your purchase cannot be considered tax deductible. If you choose to donate without making a purchase, or if you choose to donate an additional amount beyond the purchase price, than that portion is tax deductible. {Q} How often do you send checks to the charities and is there a minimum? We donate to the charities on a quarterly basis and there is no minimum. {Q} Do you offer gift certificates? We do. Under Shop By Category, select Gift Certificate and follow the checkout process. On the checkout confirmation page, you will see a box that says "Gift Certificate Account." Use the send gift certificate button to send an email with the gift certificate code to the lucky recipient. This will be sent as a plain text email. If you'd like a fancier version, simply contact us with your order number and we will send you a beautifully designed certificate in a .pdf file you can email to the recipient or print and mail. {Q} Do you offer a wishlist? We are partnered with Wishpot (www.wishpot.com) for wishlist functionality. Simply click on the WISHLIST ink at the bottom of the page and add products to your "must have" list! {Q} If I order products from multiple designers, will they all arrive in the same shipment? No. Each designer will ship your order directly from her own location. {Q} How can I help? As we don't spend money on advertising, we are always looking for help to spread the word. Add our shop buttons to your blog or website (find these on our blog), twitter about us, and mention GFGS to your friends and family. {Q} How can I follow your updates?
